Leach Botanical Gardens June 16, 2012

 This is the fountain in the courtyard where the kids are getting married.  It was so peaceful.
The grounds are beautiful and we hoped for as nice weather as we were having this day!
 As you can see from the tag below this is a Platycerium grande or staghorn fern.  As you can also see it comes from Australia.  I thought it was really cool looking and would love to have one.
The people who owned the property were Mr and Mrs Leach...go figure!!!  He was a pharmacist and she was a high school botany teacher.  While their house was being built they lived in a little log cabin down by the river that runs through the property.  The property was willed to the city of Portland, since they had no children to leave it to, with the stipulation that it was to be turned into a botanical garden for public use and enjoyment.  It truly is a magical place for a wedding.
