Hunting for Russian Boar in Texas

These are our brave hunters (from left) AJ-10, Christopher-16, and Brandon-13! It was our first night at Boar Creek Ranch and from the time we arrived until supper time one little, two little, three little piggy's dropped! Oh wait...that was four little piggy's! What a great night! Not to mention the great big ol' Texas rib eyes to celebrate the event! YUM!

Our three big hunters! I wish I would have been a little over to my left and farther back to get the piggy's all in there, but it's still a pretty good picture. The owners of the ranch told us that this was the first time three brothers had ever been at the ranch and all got their boars the first time out...not to mention it was also their first boars! Nick and Kelly, the owners said the pictures would go up on their web site. I'm not sure who was more proud...us or them!

Nice piggy!! Taylor was really interested in Brandon's piggy. She thought it was pretty cool. Grammy's dream is for an all girls hunt one day! I think it could be pretty cool!

All four of the guys got their hogs the very first day! What a take!! Congratulations guys!

Our #3 grandson AJ nailed the first boar! Woohooo...and a nice one at that! Can you tell from that smile that he's thinking..."Oh yeah...I'm the man!" lol This was AJ's second hunt and his first kill as well. He says he's ready for an elk hunt! Or...maybe a deer.

Our grandson Christopher with his first kill ever. He was so proud of himself, as he should have been, and we couldn't have been prouder ourselves. Let me tell you...Mark is still walking around with his chest puffed out he's is so proud of his boys!

Our #2 Grandson Brandon and his very first Russian boar...or any kind of boar! Wow...2 hunting first for him this year. His first turkey and now a boar...can't wait to see what's next!

This is our dear friend, and Mark's best friend, Bob Hull with his boar that he got that first day. Way to go Bob!

This is our pretty Princess Katelynn. I'm still learning how to use the new camera so it came out a little blurry in the background, but oh those eyes!

Taylor wasn't sure if she wanted to eat the colored pencils or color with them, but she was having a great time!

Our three beautiful grand daughters all had lots of fun with the coloring pages and twist-up color pencils I brought for them. Aunt Kimmy; or Mommy to Katelynn seemed to be having a good time as well. We also made hair bows and Halloween necklaces while the guys were out in the field looking for those Russian boars.

Our last night at the ranch Virgil decided to go back out after supper. Mark and I went out on the dock with Christopher, Brandon and AJ, and their Aunt Heather to see if we could land any catfish. Standing out there under a sky filled with stars we could hear owl, fish jumping, and the coyotes howling. It was pretty amazing. Then a single round was fired...we were all silent for a moment and then another shot!!! We new he had one!!! This is the beauty they brought back! Virg had the only "tusker", and we didn't even realize it until we took a really close look at this shot! Way to go Virg!
