In September we had the opportunity to go to Texas and see our girls. What Kimmy(on the left) didn't realize was that her baby sister, Heather, was also coming along on that trip with her two little girls.
It was really hard trying to keep it from Kimmy too!
Our evil plot was that Mark and I would fly to El Paso, pickup Heather and the girls, and drive down to Tennessee Colony; outside of Dallas, to a ranch called the Boar Creek Ranch. We'd been planning this trip for about a year and would meet Kimmy, Virgil, and our 4 grand kids there for a 3 day wild Russian boar hunt. We then got the idea that we could save $$ and see Heather and the girls (her Mark would be in CA on training maneuvers with the Army so he unfortunately would not be able to go) if we went to El Paso first and drove her car VS a rental down to the ranch. So the deception began.
It was quite comical the first two days because I had to come up with clever ways of keeping Kimmy from calling me at the house, "...oh we're at Roger and Andrea's" or "...we're out to dinner and don't know what time we'll get back...", and then on the day that we were to meet...after a VERY LONG drive from El Paso, I handed Heather my cell phone and said, "Here...you call Kimmy and tell her!" It was so funny. Kimmy answered the phone and there was Heather on the other end. Heather said, "Hey...what time's supper?" Kimmy was like..."Huh? I don't know...whenever you make it I guess." Then she became even more confused when Heather repeated the question and Kim wanted to know how Heather was calling from my phone. Finally Heather said, "Because I'm in the car with Mom and Dad! The girls and I are coming too!"
Anyway...we finally made it to the ranch and this was one of the first pictures I took. Thus the title 'Happiness is...'.
So for me, happiness was bringing my baby girls together again after being apart for more than 2 years. If nobody got a boar on that trip, or if it would have been lousy weather and poured everyday, nothing could have spoiled what you see on these two girls faces.
It is a trip I will cherish always. I love you girls!
