Update on the Furlow Boys

Our three oldest grandsons were chosen to go on a turkey hunt. Out of all these kids only 7 turkeys were taken and our Brandon took the biggest one! Congratulations Brandon!

Brandon and his Daddy; Virgil, hold up the prize bird! That's a lot a bird! 22lbs! My boys...all 4 of them, plus one prized wild turkey!

Yesterday, Saturday March 21st, our grandsons Christopher, Brandon and AJ went on their first turkey hunt. Brandon; center holding his prize turkey, and AJ; the youngest, were hunting together; with an adult of course, and although AJ had a bird in his sites it was unfortunately behind Brandon's bird and he couldn't shoot over Brandon, but Brandon was able to get a shot off and flatten a 22lb Tom! He took it with a 12G Shotgun with 3" loads #4 shot. That's a lot of gun for an adult but Brandon's one pretty tough kid! No worries AJ your time is coming, and Papa Mark says he didn't get his first turkey until he was in his 30's! We bet you get yours long before then. Unfortunately Christopher and his sponsor heard turkeys all around them but although they tried to call one out they couldn't get them to show themselves. Unlike domesticated turkeys, wild turkeys are very smart with keen eyesight. As much as we would have liked all of our boys to have been able to get a bird, we were thrilled that one of them was able to!  Like their Papa Mark says, "That is why they call it hunting and not killing!"
Congratulations to Brandon!  And to Christopher and AJ...don't give up...there's always next time, and don't forget...we're going for something even bigger in Septemeber...HOGS!
